933 Milledge Road Update
The Parish’s acquisition of 933 Milledge Road has generated a lot of excitement and curiosity about the house and gardens. An Advisory Committee to the Vestry has been formed to oversee our stewardship of the property which is now listed for sale.
Cranston Engineering has completed a thorough survey of the slightly more than five acre tract and the Parish plans to retain a little less than two acres of contiguous property.
The house has been receiving a good dusting and cleaning of the interior and a soft wash of the exterior is also scheduled. We have begun to attend to some general clean-up of the gardens and grounds.
Milledge 933 LLC is the legal entity that owns the property. Taxes, interest payments on the loan, and maintenance and upkeep expenses are being covered with funds from the Founders Fund of the Good Shepherd Endowment. We hope to find a buyer to purchase and restore the house and gardens in a way that benefits the storied history of the house and our Summerville neighborhood.
An open house for parishioners is scheduled for Sunday, August 4th from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. You are invited to come by and see the house and its incredible gardens. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Burgreen, Frank Anderson or Robert Fain.
The Advisory Committee:
Frank Anderson, Mark Burgreen, Kathleen Bailie, Tommy Blanchard, Clay Boardman, Paul Simon, Sandy Vantrease and Rob Wynn
