Endowment News
The Good Shepherd Endowment reached a milestone this year
when its value exceeded two million dollars. As of June the total value of the
endowment was $2,244,400 and total grants made since September 2008 to
community agencies and others doing God’s work in our community now stands at
$445,000.
Recently the Vestry took the action of organizing the Good
Shepherd Endowment into two principal divisions: the first named the Weed Fund,
in honor of the parish’s first Rector, and the second the Founders’ Fund, in
honor of the first families that founded the parish in 1869.
Earnings from the Weed Fund are used to further Good
Shepherd’s community witness by partnering with other groups making a
difference for our community neighbors. We like to make “impact” gifts with
this fund that help establish Good Shepherd as an organization that cares for
and is highly invested in the welfare of our whole community. Currently, the
total value of the endowment is in the Weed Fund.
The Founders’ Fund will be used to provide resources that
benefit the Parish itself. It is envisioned that this fund will be used for
large capitol improvements, property acquisition, and the like.
Endowment grants do not make up any part of the $331,500
that is allocated in our 2017 budget for the support of other mission and
outreach ministries that receive Good Shepherd’s support. Giving to the
endowment is a wonderful way to make your life make a difference in God’s world
and used for God’s kingdom long after your own life. Speak with Rob Wynn or
Mark Burgreen to learn more about how you can make Good Shepherd’s Endowment
part of your giving witness and leave a legacy for God’s service and glory.
