Church Directory...Again!
It’s that time again – time to do another church photo directory! Some love it and some don’t, but the truth is that most people ignore it. At Good Shepherd, we have 667 households and out of those households, about 200 households participated in our last photo directory. That is less than 30 percent participation! I know we can do better than that!
Why do the directory? Why put it together in the first place? The church photo directory helps us to connect to each other, because it gives us information about our fellow parishioners. It is a tool that helps us to have each other’s addresses, e-mails, phone numbers, and pictures. It is a way for us to look up someone we don’t know or to put a name to a face. And names are important!
I have called you by name, you are mine. — Isaiah 43:1
God knows our names, and our names are ways for not only God to identify us but also for us to know each other. To put a face to a name is a powerful thing. By knowing each other, we are drawn further into the life of the parish, into the family life that is at the core of Good Shepherd. That sense of belonging is part of who we are as Christians. Belonging means that we take care of each other, pray for each other, and love one another. And that all begins with putting a face to a name!
This year we will have a photo booth set up in the Parish Hall, and we will have a few different backgrounds from which you may choose. You can choose a beach theme, a farm theme or just a plain background!
The youth will be here on Sunday mornings to take pictures from 9:00 am - 11:30 am on May 28, and from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm, June 4 and June 11. Or you can stop by the office during office hours and have your picture taken.
